I love my early morning ride to work with Dad.
The ride is free and so are the wisdoms. 🙂
This is one of them.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. Genesis 2:18, 21-24
You are nailing a nail with a hammer.
Your left hand is holding the nail laid against the wall.
Your right hand is banging the hammer away at the nail.
It all goes well.
And everything is swell.
Until one time your right hand hits your left hand with the hammer.
What happens next?
Your right hand drops the hammer immediately, caresses the left hand lovingly, goes get ice and soothes it back until the pain is bearable.
And further nurses it for days to come. Naturally.
What does not happen…
Your left hand does not stand up and hit your right hand back forcefully.
Your left hand does not put right hand on a silent treatment.
Your right hand does not say ‘Ha.. ha.. you had it coming. You better watch out where my hammer is coming next time to make sure you don’t get hit again’.
Your right hand does not stay oblivious and ignorant with the pain caused.
Your left hand and right hand do not cause catastrophes resembling of domestic world war three.
Your right hand does not punish left into confinement just to keep it safe from harm.
They do not do all of those.
Because they are of one flesh.
Feeling what the other is feeling just the same.
So why do we?
